Cut by Raiders, S Bing turns up on 49ers

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) -The San Francisco 49ers claimed safety Darnell Bing off waivers and signed receiver Jason Hill to a contract Thursday.

Bing, a fourth-round pick by the Oakland Raiders out of Southern California in 2006, spent his rookie season on injured reserve with a neck injury. He was cut loose by Oakland on Wednesday because the Raiders had an excess of safeties following the signings of free agents Donovin Darius, Colin Branch and B.J. Ward.

Hill, a third-round selection, became the seventh draft pick signed by San Francisco. Top pick Patrick Willis and third-rounder Ray McDonald remain unsigned.
