Cowboys sign Stewart to add depth to LB corps

IRVING, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys have signed free-agent linebacker Matt Stewart to a one-year contract. Financial terms weren't disclosed.

Stewart, who signed Tuesday, was out of football in 2008 after being released by the Arizona Cardinals in the final roster cuts before the season started.

Stewart, 29, was a fourth-round draft pick by Atlanta in 2001 and played four seasons with the Falcons. He spent the next three seasons with the Cleveland Browns.

In 93 career games, Stewart has 291 tackles, eight sacks and one interception.
