Chicago Bears

2010 record: 11-5 (First in NFC North)

Fearless Forecast

  • Jason La Canfora

If they can't protect the quarterback, again, then I have a hard time seeing them duplicating any recent success.
Prediction: 8-8, third in NFC North

  • Steve Wyche

Running back Matt Forte's beef with his contract, the holes along the offensive line and the lack of explosiveness on the edge at receiver could be too much to overcome for a defense that could once again be one of the better units in the NFL.
Prediction: 8-8, third in NFC North

  • Pat Kirwan

The offensive line is still a problem and Roy Williams at wide receiver is worth watching closely. The Lions are closing the gap.
Prediction: 8-8, second in NFC North

  • Bucky Brooks

The Bears' defense still features some of the top playmakers-Julius Peppers, Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs--in the business, but age and injuries could lead the unit to take a step back this year.
Prediction: 9-7, second in NFC North

  • Elliot Harrison

Who knows what to make of the Bears. They're not getting much respect, but Jay Cutler should be improved in his second year under Mike Martz. If the defense holds opponents to 17.9 points per game again, this team will win at least 8 games.
Prediction: 8-8, third in NFC North

On the hot seat

Roy Williams | #11 | WR

Mike Martz seems to believe Williams can become a No. 1 receiver in the Bears' offense. Detroit and Dallas also believed in the eighth-year pro's potential, but he failed to deliver the goods when given the opportunity.

Tickets
3 Pivotal Games
Week 2 at Saints
The Bears brought in a bevy of new faces in free agency, but decided to let veteran center Olin Kreutz walk. He signed with the Saints and will have this game circled on his calendar. Aside from going up against their former leader, the Bears get a tough road test against the Saints.
Week 14 at Broncos
Jay Cutler returns to Denver for the first time since being traded in 2009. Broncos fans will be waiting to boo their former quarterback, while the Bears begin a stretch of three of their final four games on the road. Getting a win in a hostile environment could help ease a difficult finish to the regular season.
Week 16 at Packers
What's bigger than a late-season game against a division rival on Christmas night? Especially when it's against the Packers at Lambeau Field. This game figures to hold more meaning than the Week 17 matchup between the teams last season, when the Bears had nothing to play for and lost 10-3 despite playing their starters.
