It's hard to doubt anything about Calvin Johnson these days. The Detroit Lion is the first player in NFL history to open the season with two touchdown catches in his team's initial four games.
That production has people who once doubted Johnson changing their tune. That's certainly the case with Cris Carter.
Carter, a former NFL wide receiver who's now an ESPN analyst, didn't believe Johnson was worthy of inclusion on his list of the top five wideouts in the game before the season started, saying "he's very, very good at Madden and Tecmo Bowl or whatever they're playing now." However, Carter has since backed off that much-criticized stance, and he had a chance to tell Johnson that during an interview leading up to the Lions' Monday night game against the Chicago Bears.
"He was complimenting me on how I've gotten better in my routes -- that's just incentive for me to keep working on those things," Johnson told the Lions' official website about his time with Carter.
Johnson also added that Carter didn't know the type of player he was, but now he does.
"He just goes off what he knows," Johnson said. "He told me that he didn't know what I was. I can't blame him for that. We haven't been out there like that as a team."
