On any given NFL weekend, many different players score touchdowns. Most of them are frequently started on fantasy football rosters. But others come out of nowhere to vulture touchdowns or beat a third-string cornerback repeatedly for a career-day. In fantasy, these are our #ThatHelpsNoOne champions. The players whose success leads to the imminent demise of countless fantasy teams. All season long, we'll be tracking and crowning a #ThatHelpsNoOne winner each week on NFL Fantasy LIVE. Below are the three top candidates for Week 2.
After Jamaal Charles saw just 11 touches in Week 1, everybody was expecting him to touch the ball A LOT on Sunday. However, once Charles suffered an ankle injury, it became Knile Davis who saw a massive amount of touches (28 in total). He racked up 107 total yards and a pair of touchdowns for 22.50 fantasy points, helping virtually no one ... except for my opponent in the NFL Media dynasty league who was forced to start Davis because Doug Martin was inactive.
Our second #ThatHelpsNoOne candidate was also thrust into the starting lineup when Robert Griffin III suffered a dislocated ankle. Cousins responded by leading the Redskins to a win behind 250 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and zero turnovers. All told, Cousins got his team a much-needed "W" and 17.90 fantasy points for no fantasy owners.
J.J. Watt, DE, Houston Texans
Everyone was banking on the Ryan Fitzpatrick-to-J.J. Watt connection to guide the Houston Texans to victory, right? Right?! OK, so nobody was, and that's why Watt makes the list. However, it was pretty awesome seeing Watt pull a Mike Vrabel and score a touchdown on offense. Oh, speaking of which, Mike Vrabel is a linebackers coach on the Texans. Hmmm ...
There was a backup connection going on in Washington, as once Cousins was inserted into the lineup he repeatedly looked the way of backup tight end Niles Paul, who was filling in for the injured Jordan Reed. Paul racked up 99 receiving yards and a touchdown on the afternoon, good for 15.90 fantasy points -- the fourth-highest total for a tight end on Sunday. Unfortunately, he was owned in less than one percent of fantasy leagues, meaning his great day was largely absent from fantasy matchups.
