Titans fourth-round pick: Thank you Pacman

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Lavelle Hawkins has never met Adam "Pacman" Jones and has only read a bit about the suspended cornerback. He did have a message for him Sunday.

"First of all, let me just say thanks to Pacman Jones because if it wasn't for him, I probably wouldn't be a Tennessee Titan so thank you Pacman Jones," Hawkins said.

The Titans finalized their trade of Jones to the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday night, a deal giving them a fourth-round pick Sunday at No. 126 overall.

Tennessee used it on the receiver timed at 4.4 seconds in the 40-yard dash at his pro day, someone with 72 catches as a senior at California to provide some help to the receiving corps.

If Jones is reinstated, the Titans also will receive a sixth-rounder in 2009. They will send back a fourth-rounder in 2009 if Jones is not reinstated to the NFL.

Hawkins has some of Jones' self-confidence, comparing his style to Anquan Boldin of the Arizona Cardinals even as he thinks he's a bit faster than Boldin. Edwards is looking forward to joining high school teammate Chris Henry, a Titans' draft pick in 2007, and Cal teammate Craig Stevens in Tennessee.

And he knows he might see his name linked to Jones because of that draft pick.

"Of course they're going to say if I start balling out, they're going to say, `This is the guy they got for Pacman Jones ...' I think it's going to be a lot put on me," Hawkins said.
