Tony Lewis Jr.

Tony Lewis Jr. is deserving of this award because of his dedication to his community on Washington DC. Tony has dedicated himself to becoming a community leader, assisting former prisoners with their re-entry into the world, and being an advocate for champion for children with incarcerated parents. Mr. Lewis Jr. became a part of this work because his story originated with that need. Mr. Lewis Jr. had a father that was put in prison when he was 9 years and, is now just being released 30 years later. He has fought relentlessly over the past 21 years to uplift and empower men, women, and children impacted by mass incarceration.

Tony is also involved with the DC Reengagement Center as an advocate for reaching out to the youth and giving them a second chance at an education. The work of this organization focuses on supporting the youth (ages 16-24) who have dropped out but wish to attain a high school diploma or GED. His dedication to the community has led to him winning of many awards including the Steve Harvey/Ford Motor Company "Best Community Leader" award and the Presidential Call to Service award.
