The offseason signing of free agent offensive tackle Michael Oher didn't work out in 2014 for the Tennessee Titans.

The team announced Saturday it placed the right tackle on season-ending injured reserve with a toe injury and promoted defensive back Khalid Wooten from the practice squad.

Oher signed a four-year, $20 million contract, with $9.5 million guaranteed, with the Titans in the offseason as the team attempted to revamp the offensive line.

The struggling right tackle started 11 games and missed the last two contests due to the injury. Oher hadn't played particularly well this season when healthy. For perspective, he ranked 74 out of 78 tackles in Pro Football Focus' grading.

The former first-round pick could be a candidate to be released this offseason after just one season in Tennessee, as Titans CEO Tommy Smith indicated earlier this month, "the roster is going to look a whole lot different next year."
