Rob Ryan joins Rex Ryan on Buffalo Bills defense

The Ryan brothers are back together.

The Buffalo Bills announced Sunday night that former New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan will rejoin head coach and twin brother Rex Ryan as the assistant head coach/defense.

"I'm excited to have Rob join our staff and I think he will be a great asset for our defense. He has a tremendous working knowledge of our schemes and I look forward to his input," Rex Ryan said in a statement released by the team. "On a personal note, it's been a number of years since we have worked together and so we are both really looking forward to this opportunity."

Overseeing a defense that would go on to finish the season ranked with the worst units in NFL history, Rob was fired by the Saints in mid-November. This was not a half-season aberration. His 2014 defense ranked 28th in the league.

He's joining a Bills defense that finished 31st in sacks and 29th in Football Outsiders' weighted metrics in Rex's debut season.

Both brothers have motivation to show that last year's disappointing results are fixable.
