Report: Tim Tebow pegged to be cut by New York Jets

Coach Rex Ryan said quarterback Tim Tebow will have a chance to compete in 2013. Ryan didn't say at what position, but Tebow's continued place on the New York Jets' roster has started to make us wonder if Tebow will have any chance to stick around.

Dan Graziano of ESPNNewYork.com reported on Tuesday that Tebow still is a goner. The Jets reportedly still are holding out hope that they can trade Tebow. (I'm also holding out hope for a growth spurt, but I'm starting to think it's not happening after turning 34 years old.)

The plan remains to release Tebow, according to Graziano. It's possible they could keep him until the 2013 NFL Draft.

To this, we say: Why bother? There is absolutely no chance a team will trade for Tebow. The Jets have five quarterbacks on the roster and clearly have no use for Tebow.

Tebow surely regrets ever coming to the Jets. I never faulted the Jets for not playing him last season, but this hopeless endeavor to get value in a possible trade is ridiculous.
