Redskins to interview Darrell Bevell, Sean McDermott

The Washington Redskins will begin their search to replace Mike Shanahan by looking to the successful Seattle Seahawks.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday that the Redskins interviewed Seattle offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, according to a source informed of the team's thinking.

Bevell has been the Seahawks' offensive coordinator since 2011 after previously working in the same position for the Minnesota Vikings for five seasons.

Credited heavily for Russell Wilson's phenomenal play in his first two campaigns, Bevell would be a good candidate to help take Robert Griffin III to the next level in Washington. The run-heavy offense Bevell runs in Seattle would also mesh well with the Redskins' established ground game, which includes the youthful Alfred Morris.

The Minnesota Vikings, who fired coach Leslie Frazier on Monday, also have requested permission to interview Bevell, according to Rapoport.

UPDATE: Rapoport reported Tuesday that the Redskins will interview Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott on Saturday in Charlotte, per a source informed of the team's plans.
