The loss of Paulsen and Paul leave the Redskins dangerously thin at tight end. Jordan Reed has missed 12 games in his first two seasons due to injuries and was held out of Washington's preseason opener with a hamstring issue. On Saturday, Gruden showed faith that Reed will be able to stay healthy for the first time in his career.
"Just because a guy has injuries early in his career doesn't mean it's going to happen all the time," the coach said, according to The Washington Post.
Gruden also confirmed that running back Silas Redd Jr. is out for the season with a torn ACL and MCL.
