Derrick Henry has run past Sweetness en route to another milestone score and did so against the Hall of Famer's former team.
Henry found paydirt early in Sunday's 30-16 win over the visiting Chicago Bears, giving the Baltimore Ravens running back 111 rushing touchdowns in his career and breaking a tie with Walter Payton for fifth all time.
Henry tacked on a second score in the fourth quarter, finishing the game with 21 carries for 71 yards and two rushing TDs.
Three weeks earlier in a loss to Houston Texans, Henry scored career rushing TD No. 110 to forge a tie with Payton. Henry added No. 111 on a 2-yard run in the second quarter to surpass the legendary Sweetness, as Payton was known. No. 112 came on a 1-yard run with just over two minutes to go in Sunday's game.
Payton reached 110 touchdowns in 190 games, while Henry, 31, achieved the mark in 141 with the Tennessee Titans and Ravens before getting 111 in his 143rd game.
Next on Henry's all-time path is Adrian Peterson, who sits at fourth all time with 120 rushing touchdowns.
Henry, who entered Sunday's tilt with 11,862 rushing yards, is zeroing in on becoming the 17th NFL player with 12,000 yards. He now needs just 67 yards to reach that milestone.
The Ravens (2-5) and Henry have had an arduous opening to the 2025 campaign, but the five-time Pro Bowler and two-time rushing champion continues to hit career landmarks, offering reminders of what a phenomenal career he's had and what could still lie ahead.
