Moss also made it clear he wanted to return for another season in the NFL. But will anyone have him?
With his 36th birthday approaching, there's no denying Moss is a player in steep decline. He was somewhat effective in a part-time role this past season, but the days of tearing the tops off defenses are history. If he didn't like his role with the San Francisco 49ers this season, he could be in for a rude awakening when he hits the open market.
Our guess is that Moss draws minimal interest as a free agent. If he's approached by a team -- whether it be the Niners or someone else -- it would likely be for a similar role as this season at a lesser pay rate.
Faced with that reality, don't be surprised if we've already seen the last of one of the greatest playmakers ever. Not everybody gets to go out like Ray Lewis.
