Matt Simms in, Geno Smith out for N.Y. Jets this week

New York Jets coach Rex Ryan has learned a valuable lesson.

After taking over-the-top heat for risking Mark Sanchezin the fourth quarter of last week's 24-21 preseason victory over the New York Giants, Ryan plans to hold rookie quarterback Geno Smith out of Thursday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles.'s Kimberly Jones reported the news Wednesday.
