Jeff Tuel signed to Buffalo Bills practice squad

The Buffalo Billscut Jeff Tuel on Saturday, but the team isn't giving up on the quarterback.

The Bills announced Sunday that Tuel was one of seven players signed to the team's practice squad. Every team can sign 10 players to their practice squad.

Buffalo jettisoned Tuel after signing veteran backup Kyle Orton to be EJ Manuel's safety net. Tuel struggled throughout the preseason to prove he could handle being Buffalo's backup.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport noted that the Bills were enamored last preseason with Tuel's skill set and performance during training camp. However, the undrafted rookie out of Washington State faltered when forced into game action in 2013.

Keeping Tuel on the practice squad indicates that the Bills' brass hasn't given up hope the second-year player can become a solid NFL signal-caller.
