Jacoby Jones released by Baltimore Ravens

Jacoby Jones will hit the free agency market a little earlier than expected.

Less than a year after signing a four-year deal, the return specialist and wide receiver will hit the open market once again at age 30. He made $4.5 million in 2014 but will not stick around for the $2.5 million he's owed in 2015.

Jones famously blew off a dinner with the New York Giants to fly home and ink a deal with the Baltimore Ravens last March. At the time, his feelings were strong enough to deter him from all other options.

New York, still in search of a kick returner, might be a decent landing spot if they aren't still miffed about getting stood up.

The good thing for Jones is that he'll always be able to fall back on his kick returning experience. Among active return leaders, he is third with a 27.4 yards per return average and has played far longer than first place Cordarrelle Patterson and second place Joe McKnight.

This past season with the Ravens, Jones returned 32 kicks for 978 yards, including a 108-yard touchdown against the Steelers.
