Injuries: Jeremy Langford (ankle) misses practice

One of the brighter spots on the Bears' roster was not at practice Friday.

Running back Jeremy Langford missed practice due to an ankle injury suffered during a walkthrough Thursday, per Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.

An ankle sprain is mildly concerning for a running back, not because Langford suffered it during a walkthrough, but because it can become a nagging injury if not properly cared for, based on the severity. It's about as early in camp as we can get, though, so there's little reason to get all worked up on July 28.

Fortunately for Chicago, Jordan Howard also happens to be in the stable.

Other injuries we're tracking Friday:

  1. Keeping things in Chicago, linebacker Pernell McPhee had an arthroscopic "cleanup" on his knee Friday, coach John Fox said.
  1. Cincinnati Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert said he's fully cleared for camp, per the Cincinnati Enquirer's Paul Dehner Jr.

Cincinnati placed wide receiver Monty Madaris on the active/physically unable to perform list and running back Cedric Peerman on the active/non-football injury list, the team announced.

  1. San Francisco 49ers defensive back Jimmie Ward has been placed on the active/physically unable to perform list, the team announced.

"He did it in our conditioning test, which was unfortunate for him and for us obviously," coach Kyle Shanahan said Friday. "He tweaked it halfway through it. I don't, we don't think it was a full pull or anything, but we want to be smart and safe with it. You never know with those things how long they'll take. Don't think it's anything too serious, but want to definitely be safe with it."

  1. New Orleans Saints center Max Unger said he's "on schedule" in his return from foot surgery, per Joel A. Erickson of the New Orleans Advocate.
  1. Arizona Cardinals receiver John Brown (quadriceps) will miss a couple days, according to Darren Urban of the team's official website. Fellow wideout Aaron Dobson (hamstring) will be out longer, per Urban.
  1. New York Giants quarterback Geno Smithis free of restriction at the start of camp, coach Ben McAdoo said.
  1. Tamba Hali missed Kansas City's first practice of camp and is on the PUP list, but is on site, training in the facilities at Missouri Western State University, according to Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star.
  1. Broncos head coach Vance Joseph announced that linebacker Shane Raytore a ligament in his left wrist. Ray will have surgery on Saturday and is scheduled to miss 6-8 weeks.
