Can Kendall Wright make an immediate impact on Titans offense?
This doesn't look like the most impactful class overall for the Tennessee Titans. Second-round draft pick Zach Brown is "allergic to contact" according to NFL Network's Mike Mayock and figures to be a reserve this year. Third-round pick Mike Martin is buried at a very deep defensive tackle position.
If Tennessee is going to get help from this class, it will probably come from the No. 20-overall pick Kendall Wright from Baylor.Â
In the buildup to the draft, Wright's stock fluctuated wildly. Some thought he was a third-round type of talent because of his slow forty time and his height. But Wright's tape might have been the most impressive of any receiver in the draft, and he has a skill set that translates well to the pro level. He can run routes well and his plays much faster than his timed speed.
The favorites to start in Tennessee will be Kenny Britt (coming off a torn ACL) and Nate Washington, coming off a 1,000-yard season. NFL Films' Greg Cosell thought Wright could be a deep threat out of the slot like Victor Cruz. We wouldn't be shocked if Wright winds up playing as many snaps as Washington and Britt right away.
Throw in tight end Jared Cook and a motivated Chris Johnson, and the Titans offense could be a lot more dangerous in 2012. No matter who is starting at quarterback.
