A.J. Green returns to Cincinnati Bengals practice

The Cincinnati Bengals have never won a road playoff game, but their chances improved on Thursday with the return of A.J. Green.

The team's Pro Bowl wide receiver was back at practice ahead of Sunday's wild-card showdown with the Indianapolis Colts. Green was officially listed as limited.

Richard Skinner of The Cincinnati Enquirer noted that Green is not yet cleared to play and will visit a neuropsychologist on Friday. The fourth-year pass-catcher opened the week mired in the league's concussion protocol after taking a shot from Steelers safety Mike Mitchell in Sunday's loss to Pittsburgh.

Green's return would be a tremendous boost for an offense that struggled mightily without the wideout in the lineup in a 27-0 loss to the Colts back in Week 7.

Even with Green in tow, the Bengals are a somewhat different team here in January.

The emergence of rookie running back Jeremy Hill -- the NFL's leading rusher since Week 9 -- has given Cincinnati a presence on the ground. Still, if Andy Dalton is forced to make plays through the air, having Green on the field against cornerback Vontae Davis and the Colts' secondary makes this matchup much more palatable.
