Chapman has been a consistent presence for Nick Saban's defense as a two-down nose tackle. Though his stats will not stand out, as is the case with most effective nose tackles in the 3-4 defense, Chapman is the large bowling ball that keeps the Alabama defense rolling. He is able to stuff lanes inside and keep his talented linebackers free to make plays. While he doesn't flash anything special, he will provide a consistent and dependable inside presence for an NFL 3-4 defense and should expect to be taken in the second round.

Jackson came to UT after leaving USC during the grace period granted to players there during the NCAA-imposed sanctions, and has really blossomed during his time in the SEC, becoming a two-year starter for the Volunteers. Although severely undersized for the defensive tackle position (he had to gain weight early in his career at USC to even see playing time at DE), Jackson has gotten upwards of 270 pounds and been an effective scheme player when slanting and stunting for Tennessee. He will likely switch back to DE in the NFL, but 3-4 base defense teams could be excited about him playing DE considering his time spent inside. He has seventh-round value as a versatile d-lineman.

Whitehead is a good all-around linebacker prospect who will not blow anyone away with his play, but he is serviceable and will be a good special teams player at the next level. He is a competitive defender who likes to play against the run but is even better at mauling tight ends off the ball and keeping them out of their routes. He doesn't do as well to stay with the man downfield, and he shouldn't be relied upon much against the pass in any capacity. Whitehead is a solid prospect with fifth- or sixth-round value.

He is the type of athlete who could get an NFL team through a game at the position but has work to do to qualify as a starter at this point. Blanton has third-round value as a backup option as an outside corner or possibly even at the nickel spot.

He played outside for much of his career, serving as the flow tackler for a defense that featured classmate Bruce Irvin at outside linebacker. Goode had a solid year working from the inside and is strong to defeat offensive linemen, he has 3-4 and 4-3 base defense versatility as well, which all comes together to make him a late-round prospect.

Norman is a solid prospect from small-school Coastal Carolina. He has great size for the cornerback position and parlays this with an ability to move fluidly and match up with big, athletic wide receivers. He reminds some of a young Ike Taylor, a tall and athletic big corner from a smaller school. Norman does not quite possess the blazing speed that Taylor did when coming into the NFL, however. Teams will be worried about the level of competition he has been playing at for the past four years, but look for Norman to be selected in the fourth round to a team looking to develop a young, big, athletic corner, and contribute early on special teams.

Despite low expectations and a holdout by running back Chris Johnson, the Titans nearly made the playoffs in 2011. Coach Mike Munchak has a solid roster, but losing cornerback Cortland Finnegan to the Rams was a blow to the secondary. Finding another pass defender is definitely in the cards. Free-agent pickup Kamerion Wimbley returns to a full-time defensive end spot after playing a lot of linebacker in Oakland's 3-4 the past two seasons. Wimbley replaces free-agent loss Jason Jones.Matt Hasselbeck and Jake Locker played well in spots last fall, and a healthy Kenny Britt will make them more effective. Adding another legitimate big-play threat outside to work with Britt and Nate Washington seems prudent. Johnson seems happy, and he'll benefit from new starting guard Steve Hutchinson (who probably reminds Munchak of himself when he was a Pro Bowl guard). With a solid aerial attack and a strong ground game, the Titans could be contenders in the division.

Carder has been a highly effective player ever since his shining performance for TCU in the 2011 Rose Bowl. A high-motor linebacker, Carder might not have the athletic ability to get drafted in the late rounds, but teams will have a tough time letting him go during camp. His competitiveness and toughness should allow him to find a role on a 53-man roster as a backup and special teams standout. Although he hasn't done it much for the Horned Frogs, Carder could be a special teams contributor at the next level for years to come on coverage teams, and is a reliable and consistent performer.

NEEDS ANALYSIS
In 2011, Jim Schwartz led the Lions to their first playoff appearance since 1999. Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson headlined the offense, but Schwartz might be interested in bringing balance -- the team finished 29th in rushing. Finding a mid-round value at running back might be in the cards if the team isn't sure Jahvid Best can stay healthy. Kevin Smith started off hot in his triumphant midseason return, but reverted to a sub-4.0 yards-per-carry average late in the year. Johnson, Nate Burleson and Titus Young form a dangerous trio, but the potential of injuries should lead the team toward finding more weapons for Stafford.Detroit's pass defense should get some attention in this year's draft, especially with 2011 starting cornerback Eric Wright now playing for Tampa Bay. Adding a starter-quality prospect as well as at least one potential nickel contributor seems prudent. As does building depth at linebacker to make sure the team's front four doesn't have to do all the work.

He is able to use arm strength to hold on and sustain his blocks, but he has some hitches in his footwork that limit him in pass protection. As a mover he gets to the second level well and can stay on his man. He is a much better run blocker than pass blocker and should find a role as a backup player in the NFL. For this, he has late-round value, but he hasn't blown anyone away and needs a strong performance in the pre-draft process to ensure he'll be drafted after showing up as a disruptive mover against Houston in the Ticket City Bowl.

Despite the Eagles' 8-8 season, it's not easy to find gaping holes in their roster. Trading for middle linebacker DeMeco Ryans filled their biggest need on defense. Finding a space-eating defensive tackle would help keep Ryans and the team's other linebackers clean. It is not clear whether Kurt Coleman or 2011 second-round pick Jaiquawn Jarrett will become the starting strong safety, so don't be surprised if they get some young company.Turnovers were the team's biggest problem on offense, so having a healthy Michael Vick running an efficient show is key. If general manager/head coach Andy Reid isn't sure Mike Kafka or Trent Edwards can handle the duties when Vick is sidelined, another mid-round selection could be used to add to the competition. Right tackle Winston Justice was traded to Indianapolis, so some depth is needed behind starter Todd Herremans and left tackle Jason Peters. Finding second-string contributors at running back and tight end are other draft possibilities.

He was a late bloomer who moved to the United States from England to play basketball in high school before picking up the game and an eventual scholarship from Penn State. He is a late-round prospect who could be taken earlier if a team can live with developing him and not expecting much as a rookie. He is an inconsistent player at this point in his career. He barely showed up against Houston in the Ticket City Bowl and logged only one pass defensed -- a microcosm of his career at Penn State, where he generally just stood up and hoped to use his frame to knock down balls.

Unlike Demps, his track-speed translates to the football field, which makes him an intriguing prospect who has played various roles within Florida's offense. While not nearly as big as former teammate Percy Harvin, Rainey has been able to deliver for the Gators in a similar fashion. He uses his supreme agility and foot quickness to make guys miss and make an electric play whenever he touches the ball. He has been dominant in the Pac-12 at times and uses his athleticism and leaping ability to simply make more plays than the man across from him. PROSPECT ANALYSIS
Jackson is a four-year starter from Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo. While there are a limited amount of prospects out of SLO in the past few years, Jackson projects to be the best. He has strong footwork and understands how to cover in man. The level he has been displaying his skills could hurt him, but there is little denying his speed and athletic ability give him a great shot to compete at the next level, and the potential factor in his game could affect his value from a mid-round pick to even higher.

PROSPECT ANALYSIS
Ballard is a big back who has been productive throughout his career at Mississippi State. He is very effective running between the tackles and could be a reliable third-down option as he is athletic in space and understands how to block in the pass game. Given his size and production, and the idea that he will probably come in and be able to contribute in pass protection, Ballard has late-round value to a running back-needy team.
