Woody Johnson attends dedication for wounded vet

Prior to the July Fourth holiday, New York Jets owner Woody Johnson was on hand to celebrate the dedication of an accessible "smart home" for Sgt. Adam Keys, a severely wounded veteran.

Johnson attended the ceremony on Wednesday, a year after donating $1 million to help build the $500,000 home that uses "special technology" to help the veteran manage day-to-day tasks.

Keys was injured in an IED blast in Afghanistan in July 2010, losing both legs and an arm.

"These veterans have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country and deserve a home that supports their specific physical needs, to enable them to live independently," Johnson said last year in a statement when making the donation.

"I'm thankful for all those people who donated money, labor or time, and volunteered to do this," Keys told LehighValleyLive.com prior to Wednesday's ceremony. "It's incredible to see the outpouring of love from people -- the majority of whom I've never met."

As we celebrate America's Independence Day, it's good to remember all those who sacrificed so much for our freedoms.
