With Porter questionable, Jags sign WR Woods off practice squad

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Jaguars signed receiver D'Juan Woods off the practice squad Saturday, an indication Jerry Porter might not play against Buffalo.

Age: 24

Height: 6-0 Weight: 210

College: Oklahoma State

Experience: 1st season

The Jaguars already ruled fellow receiver Troy Williamson (thigh) out for Sunday's home opener, and Porter (hamstring) was listed as questionable. Receivers Matt Jones (hamstring) and Dennis Northcutt (back) also were on the injury report, both listed as probable.

Porter had surgery to repair a torn right hamstring in mid-July and missed all of training camp and the preseason. He returned to practice last week and had hoped to make his debut against the Bills, but coach Jack Del Rio has said he'll be cautious with Porter's return.

Woods, a former standout at Oklahoma State, spent most of last season on Jacksonville's practice squad. He had a strong training camp this year, but was released in final roster cuts and signed to the practice squad.

To make room on the 53-man roster for Woods, the Jaguars waived offensive tackle Chad Slaughter. He was signed earlier in the week to retool an offensive line that is without three starters and a key backup.
