Wisconsin senior tailback James White continued his late-season surge Saturday by rushing for 205 yards and a TD on 20 carries in the Badgers' 51-3 rout of Indiana.
It was the first 200-yard game of his career for White, who now has rushed for 484 yards and five TDs in the past three games. Saturday's performance gave him a career-high 1,156 yards and 12 TDs for the season; it also was his seventh 100-yard outing of the season.
White's first carry went for 93 yards and a score, which foreshadowed the rest of the day for a brutalizing Badgers rushing attack. Wisconsin ran for 554 yards and six TDs on 50 carries (11.1 yards per carry).
Sophomore tailback Melvin Gordon added 146 yards and a TD on 13 carries for his seventh 100-yard game of the season. True freshman third-team tailback Corey Clement had 108 yards and two TDs on 11 carries; it was his third 100-yard game of the year.
Senior wide receiver Jared Abbrederis also got into the fun, with three carries for 86 yards and two TDs. They were the first two rushing touchdowns of his career.
Gordon, a third-year sophomore who is draft-eligible, has been high on most draft boards since early in the season. But White has moved up those same draft boards with his play this season. He's a solid blocker and a good receiver, and he's showing he can handle a heavier workload of late. He's not nearly as explosive as Gordon, but White has OK speed, is comfortable running between the tackles and can turn the corner.
