Will Atlanta Falcons trade up in 2013 NFL Draft?

History tells us that when Atlanta Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff sees something he wants, he goes for it.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that Atlanta is targeting a pair of players -- LSU pass rusher Barkevious Mingo and Notre Dame tight end Tyler Eifert -- as the team considers whether to move up from No. 30 overall in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Both prospects would require the Falcons to pay a hefty price, but Dimitroff never has been afraid to swap picks for the player he covets. Just two Aprils ago, Atlanta shipped a pair of first-round selections, a second-rounder and two fourth-rounders to the Cleveland Browns to nab receiver Julio Jones at No. 6. That worked out pretty well.

Mingo brings tantalizing pass-rush potential, while Eifert is recognized as the best tight end in this class. It would cost a pretty penny, but Dimitroff -- armed with 11 picks -- said earlier this month, "I think it's very clear that we are open for big deals."

Here's what else we're tracking as the first round closes in:

» RapSheet noted that if the Miami Dolphins execute a trade for Kansas City Chiefs left tackle Branden Albert, it might not happen until the Dolphins are on the clock in Friday's second round. Remember, Albert resides in Miami and could be on hand to take a physical in mere minutes. Time is on the Dolphins' side.

» NFL.com's Albert Breer reported earlier this week that the Buffalo Bills are exploring a trade down, and we also know the Oakland Raiders are listening to offers for their No. 3 overall pick. Other teams looking to descend include the Arizona Cardinals, New York Jets, Browns and Dolphins, per Breer.

» Are the Philadelphia Eagles eyeing a quarterback at No. 4? When Rapoport asked a source if the Browns might pull the trigger on West Virginia's Geno Smith, he was told, "Smith might not even be there for the Browns."
