BRUCE ARIANS

Age: 61

Current team:Arizona Cardinals (since 2013)

Past head coaching experience:Indianapolis Colts (2012, interim); Temple University (1983-88)

Assistant coaching stops: four colleges (twice at Alabama); six NFL teams

Birthplace: Paterson, New Jersey

High school: William Penn in York, Pennsylvania

College: Virginia Tech

Immediate family: wife Christine; son Jake and daughter Kristi Anne

Health issues: He is a prostate cancer survivor.

Quote: "I was a young head coach (at Temple) and I thought I had to do everything. I was 30 years old and was the quarterback coach, offensive coordinator, recruiting coordinator, head coach and fund raiser. By the time I was 33, I was in the hospital twice a week with migraines. Last migraine I had, they thought I stroked. I said, 'This is it. I got to do something.' They day I got fired, I never had another migraine."

TOM COUGHLIN

Age: 67

Current team:New York Giants (since 2004)

Past head coaching experience:Jacksonville Jaguars (1995-2002); Boston College (1991-93); Rochester Institute of Technology (1970-73)

Birthplace: Waterloo, New York

High school: Waterloo, New York

College: Syracuse

Immediate family: With his wife, Judy, he has two daughters, Keli and Katie; two sons, Brian and Tim; and 11 grandchildren: Emma Rose, Dylan, Shea, Cooper, Caroline May, Marin Elizabeth, Wesley, Brennon, Clara Amelia, Walker and Allie.

Health issues: None have been reported.

Quote: "I really do believe we are in a profession that if you will just cooperate a little bit, it's a very healthy profession. ... We have incredible health care. The Giants have always had the mandatory physical at the end of the year."

JOHN HARBAUGH

Age: 51

Current team:Baltimore Ravens (since 2008)

Past head coaching experience: None

Assistant coaching stops: five colleges; one NFL team

Birthplace: Toledo, Ohio

High school: Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor, Michigan

College: Miami (Ohio)

Immediate family: He and his wife, Ingrid, have one daughter, Alison. His younger brother Jim is coach of the San Francisco 49ers. His father, Jack, was head football coach at Western Michigan University and Western Kentucky University, and his sister Joani is married to Indiana University men's basketball coach Tom Crean.

Health issues: None have been reported.

Quote: "Right before the Super Bowl, Alison was on the sideline. Just when they got done with the national anthem -- your kids are part of this thing whether you believe it or not, they know -- so she looks up at me and right before the kickoff she says, 'Daddy, we can do this.' I got a lump in my throat."

REX RYAN

Age: 51

Current team:New York Jets (since 2009)

Past head coaching experience: None

Assistant coaching stops: six colleges; two NFL teams

Birthplace: Ardmore, Oklahoma

High school: Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Illinois

College: Southwestern Oklahoma State

Immediate family: He and his wife, Michelle, have two sons, Payton and Seth; his twin brother, Rob, is the defensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints and his father, Buddy, was the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Arizona Cardinals.

Health issues: Disclosed in 2009 that he suffered from dyslexia; underwent lap-band surgery in 2010 to fight obesity issues and has lost 130 pounds.

Quote: "One big reason we're in the position we're in is because of our wives."
