Week 14 NFL injury report: LeSean McCoy out

We track the injury news all day on Around the League. And then we compile everything, big and small, into the most popular injury report this side of Vivian Lake.

We offer you a heavy dose of big names this week, with major impact for fantasy football playoffs. Let's get to it.

  1. Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy continues to battle symptoms from the concussion he suffered in Week 11 and will not suit up Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The same goes for concussed quarterback Michael Vick. Safety Kurt Coleman is out with a chest bruise, and defensive tackle Mike Patterson is in the hospital with viral pneumonia and will not be available for an Eagles team that's threatening to lose its ninth consecutive game.

Week 14 Like/Dislike

  1. Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs (torn biceps) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Robert Griffin III and the Washington Redskins. CBSSports.com's Jason La Canfora tweeted Friday he has been told Suggs plans to play. Also for the Ravens, tight end Ed Dickson (knee) is out and cornerback Jimmy Smith (abdomen) is doubtful.
  1. The situation at wideout has become tricky for the San Francisco 49ers. Mario Manningham is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins with a shoulder injury. Manningham missed his third practice in a row Friday, leaving the door open for first-round draft pick A.J. Jenkins to finally see the field.
  1. Atlanta Falcons running back Michael Turner is questionable against the Carolina Panthers with an elbow injury. Turner was limited in practice Friday. There is speculation that coach Mike Smith hopes to take a wider look at Jacquizz Rodgers regardless of Turner's health when the Falcons visit Carolina on Sunday. Also for the Falcons, cornerback Asante Samuel (shoulder) is questionable.
  1. Seattle Seahawks cornerback Marcus Trufant has been ruled out with the hamstring injury that sidelined him for the team's Week 13 win over the Chicago Bears. Defensive end Red Bryant (foot) and safety Kam Chancellor (groin) are listed as probable for Week 14's tilt against the Arizona Cardinals.

Lombardi: What's next for Chargers?

Chargers coach Norv Turner and GM A.J. Smith reportedly will be fired at season's end. Michael Lombardi offers his thoughts. **More ...**

  1. The Green Bay Packers have a flood of injuries heading into Sunday night's game with the Detroit Lions. Linebacker Clay Matthews (hamstring), wide receiver Jordy Nelson (hamstring), running back James Starks (knee), defensive back Charles Woodson (collarbone) and defensive end C.J. Wilson (knee) all have been ruled out.
  1. The Buffalo Bills cling to dim playoff hopes, but they might be without their best receiver this weekend. Stevie Johnson officially is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams. Johnson injured his hamstring against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 13 and was limited in practice Thursday and Friday. Cornerback Aaron Williams (knee) is questionable for the Bills, and defensive end Mark Anderson is out indefinitely with a knee injury.
  1. The Pittsburgh Steelers have Ben Roethlisberger back in the fold, but that's not all. Starting left guard Willie Colon practiced Friday and is probable for Sunday's game against the sputtering San Diego Chargers. Colon has missed two consecutive games with a knee injury and called himself a game-time decision Thursday, but we like his chances to play. Linebacker LaMarr Woodley will miss his second game in a row with a high ankle sprain.

Jeremiah: Best Week 14 matchups

Can the Lions' Matthew Stafford out-duel the Packers' Aaron Rodgers? Daniel Jeremiah can't wait to find out. **More ...**

  1. Rams wide receiver Danny Amendola is listed as questionable with a heel injury and looms as a game-time decision for Sunday's meeting with the Bills. Amendola was limited in practice the past two days. Linebacker Mario Haggan (elbow) is questionable for the Rams, and tight end Mike McNeill (thigh) didn't practice Friday and won't play Sunday. Center Scott Wells (foot) and running back Steven Jackson (foot) are probable.
  1. The Chicago Bears have ruled out cornerback Tim Jennings (shoulder) against the Minnesota Vikings. Kelvin Hayden will start in his place. The Bears also ruled out wide receiver Earl Bennett with a concussion for Sunday's game, but there's an ounce of good news: Devin Hester and rookie wideout Alshon Jeffery (knee) will return to the lineup against the Vikings.
  1. New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks was a surprise absentee from Thursday's practice, but he was back on the field Friday. Nicks is questionable for Sunday's meeting with the New Orleans Saints because of knee soreness. We expect him to play. Meanwhile, safety Tyler Sash (hamstring) and tight end Travis Beckum (knee) are out.
  1. Linebacker Colin McCarthy (concussion) will miss his second consecutive game for the 4-8 Tennessee Titans. Defensive end Kamerion Wimbley (toe) is questionable for Sunday to face the Indianapolis Colts, and quarterback Jake Locker (left shoulder) is probable, along with tight end Jared Cook (neck) and wide receiver Kenny Britt (knee).

Jones: Jets' biggest issue is Sanchez

The New York Jets are struggling this season for one reason only -- QB Mark Sanchez, Kimberly Jones writes. **More ...**

  1. The Minnesota Vikings made Rosenthal's list of teams most desperate for a win in Week 14 against the Bears. Anything they accomplish from here on out will need to be done without Percy Harvin. The Vikings' star receiver abruptly was declared out for the season Wednesday with an ankle injury.
  1. One of the few bright spots in Jacksonville this season has been Jaguars wide receiver Cecil Shorts. He won't be on the field Sunday against the New York Jets after being ruled out because of the concussion he suffered against the Buffalo Bills in Week 13. Undrafted rookie Kevin Elliott might be in line for his first career start in place of Shorts. Running backs Maurice Jones-Drew (foot) and Rashad Jennings (concussion) are out.
  1. Now this from Florham Park: Tim Tebow is listed as questionable with a nagging rib injury and will be a game-time decision against the Jaguars. He practiced on a limited basis this week, and Jets coach Rex Ryan said Friday that Tebow won't act as the team's punt protector. Ryan did acknowledge he has softened on the notion of activating three quarterbacks. Greg McElroy is that third figure in what has become one of the season's more troubling signal-caller mini-dramas.
  1. The Cleveland Browns, for once, are the envy of the NFL. They don't have a single player listed as questionable, doubtful or out on Friday's injury report. They had 10 players listed as probable.
