Washington tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins will serve one day in jail after the junior pleaded guilty to a DUI charge in Seattle on Monday.
Seferian-Jenkins, who was also placed on probation for five years, was arrested in March after being involved in a one-vehicle car accident. Police said Seferian-Jenkins had a blood alcohol level of .18, more than twice the legal limit in the state of Washington, the Seattle Times reported.
The resolution of the case should clear the way for Seferian-Jenkins to be reinstated to the team, though it could come with a suspension or other disciplinary action. Head coach Steve Sarkisian indefinitely suspended Seferian-Jenkins from all team activities in March, four days after the arrest.
Seferian-Jenkins has been participating in summer workouts with teammates, Sarkisian said in a recent radio interview.
Washington opens the 2013 season at home against Boise State on Aug. 31. Seferian-Jenkins caught six passes for 61 yards and a touchdown in a 28-26 loss to Boise State in the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas last December.
