Shiancoe met with the New England Patriots last week and could be closing in on a deal with a team following his visit with the Eagles, the source said Monday.
The 32-year-old met with the Seattle Seahawks in March, but reportedly turned down a one-year, $1.2 million contract offer.
Shiancoe had his best season in 2008 with the Minnesota Vikings, when he caught 42 passes for 596 yards and seven touchdowns.
