Christian Ponder was ruled out for the second half of the Minnesota Vikings' matchup against the Chicago Bears and being evaluated for a possible concussion.
Ponder was hit in the head Sunday by Bears lineman Shea McClellin on a third-down pass with just over a minute remaining in the first half.
Fox cameras showed doctors going through the concussion protocol on the sideline before taking the quarterback to the locker room before the half ended.
Matt Cassel took the final knee to end the half, and he remained in for the second half.
Josh Freeman was a healthy scratch for the game, so former quarterback Joe Webb would be the emergency replacement if Cassel gets injured.
Ponder was shaky in the first half, completing just 3 of 8 passes for 40 yards. He led the Vikings on a 90-yard touchdown drive (longest for Minnesota this season), including a 32-yard strike from Ponder to Jerome Simpson. The Vikings led 7-6 at halftime.
