The league announced Monday that a combined 99 million viewers watched Championship Sunday.
With Peyton Manning and Tom Brady squaring off for the 17th time, the AFC Championship Game between the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots on CBS garnered 53.3 million viewers, the second most-watched AFC Championship ever-- behind Jets-Steelers in January 2011 (54.8 million).
The NFC Championship Game between the Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals on FOX earned 45.7 million viewers.
The two-game average of 49.7 million viewers was up 8 percent from last season, per the NFL.
With Cam Newton's Panthers taking on Manning's Broncos, Super Bowl 50 will attempt to best last season's tilt, which earned 114.4 million viewers, the most-watched show in U.S. history.
