Redskins tight end Niles Paul exited during the second quarter of the team's Thursday night 45-14 loss against the New York Giants. Jay Gruden announced after the game that the fourth-year tight end suffered a concussion.
Paul was hit simultaneously by Quintin Demps and Antrel Rolle after he caught a long pass from Kirk Cousins. Demps was flagged on the play for a helmet-to-helmet hit.
The catch was originally ruled incomplete but after further review the officials called it a catch, and 15 yards were added onto the play.
Logan Paulsen replaced Paul in the Redskins' lineup and committed a key fumble moments later. Washington is already without starting tight end Jordan Reed.
The news got worse in the fourth quarter for Washington. Redskins left tackle Trent Williams suffered a right knee strain and the team announced that the Pro Bowl player would not return to a game that was already out of hand.
Jarvis Jenkins was also injured during the loss. The Redskins defensive lineman left with bruised ribs and never returned to the game.
