Titans' Bud Adams heard Jake Locker news on radio

Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams was as excited as any fan when he learned that Jake Lockerwill be the team's starting quarterback. In fact, Adams found out just like a lot of fans.

"I heard the reports on the radio, and I'm excited about it. I think this kid is going to be a good one. We drafted him a couple of years ago (to be our quarterback)," Adams told Terry McCormick of TitanInsider on Monday morning.

Titans coach Mike Munchak surely would have preferred to release quarterback news differently than a bunch of early morning news reports.

"The other guy (Matt Hasselbeck) is a good one too, but he's starting to get a little age on him," Adams said. "He came in and played well for us last year, but Locker did too when he came in. I'm looking forward to him playing."

You have to wonder if the other guy found out through the media, too. Ultimately, it doesn't really matter how the news got out. Locker struggled in the team's 30-7 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Friday night, but it's not fair to make a quarterback decision based on a few series.

Reports have suggested Locker outplayed Hasselbeck in a tight battle throughout camp. NFL.com and NFL Network reporter Michael Lombardi said weeks ago that Locker was the favorite. Tie goes to the young kid.
