Alabama starting nose tackle Brandon Ivory, defensive end Jarran Reed and linebacker Tim Williams have been suspended for team-rules violations by Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban as fall camp begins.
Although Saban did not get into details about the cause, there is little doubt that Reed's suspension stems from his DUI arrest last month. Reed is a junior college transfer who is likely to contribute on Alabama's defensive line rotation this fall. In fact, he exited spring practice working with the first team.
Ivory started 12 games at nose guard last season and made 24 tackles, while Williams saw action in seven games as a reserve.
Darren Lake figures to command many of Ivory's reps while he is withheld from practice, and a number of defensive ends figure to see more action in Reed's absence. All three players were absent from Alabama's morning practice Friday, the first of fall camp for the team.
Running back Kenyan Drake is apparently back in Saban's favor after his bizarre arrest for obstructing governmental operations, as he was present and accounted for at practice.
