Tennessee unveils new uniforms

New Tennessee coach Butch Jones is putting his team through plenty of changes this preseason -- including its look.

The Volunteers released new Adidas uniforms Thursday. The primary home and away uniforms underwent minimal changes, continuing with orange jerseys with white pants at home, and the reverse on the road.

But an alternate uniform featuring a "Smokey gray" color was unveiled as well, and will be debuted at some point this season. Players were told the 1914 Tennessee team went unbeaten with a gray uniform.

"There was a big uproar," free safety Brian Randolph said. "Everybody was excited. Everybody was jumping up and down, doing chest bumps, stuff like that."

UT's release does not indicate which game or games the gray alternates will be used for play, though nose guard Daniel Hood said it would be an SEC home game. That would be either against Georgia, South Carolina, Vanderbilt or Auburn.

You can see video and photos of the new uniforms at UT's official web site.
