Tarvaris Jackson, Seattle Seahawks set to reunite?

Tarvaris Jackson appears headed for a reunion with Pete Carroll.

ESPN.com's Adam Schefter reported Wednesday morning that Jackson is expected to sign a one-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks.

Jackson, released by the Buffalo Bills earlier this week, served as the Seahawks' starting quarterback in 2011, a season in which he played while injured and earned respect from teammates. He was a team captain that season, but he quickly lost his grip on a roster spot after the Seahawks brought in Matt Flynn and Russell Wilson.

As Gregg Rosenthal pointed out Tuesday, the Seahawks' situation has changed greatly in the past year. Wilson has established himself as a franchise quarterback. Flynn is gone, traded to the Oakland Raiders. A best-case scenario for Jackson is replacing Flynn as Wilson's primary backup.

Jackson must beat out Brady Quinn to earn that No. 2 role. Given his prior relationship with offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, Jackson should be considered the favorite.
