Target Colts’ RB Hart, WR White on the wire in Week 8

NFL.com offers up 10 players to target off the waiver wire to improve your fantasy football team. The number listed in parenthesis is the percentage of NFL.com leagues that the player is still listed as a free agent.

Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB, Bills (98.9 percent)

Fitzpatrick proved to be more than just a matchup-based fantasy starter in Week 7, shredding the Ravens for 374 yards and four touchdowns in a 37-34 loss. What's even more impressive is that he did it on the road in a hostile environment. The Harvard product has now thrown for 11 touchdowns in his last four starts and is clearly on the fantasy radar moving forward. Fitzpatrick needs to be added in all leagues with 12-plus teams.

Matthew Stafford, QB, Lions (65.8 percent)

The Lions had a bye in Week 7, but owners in need of a quarterback should now add Stafford. He's fully expected to be back under center in Week 8, and there's no serious competition for snaps with Shaun Hill injured. Considering that Hill was a top-10 quarterback based on fantasy points on NFL.com, Stafford could turn into a nice option down the stretch. He also has a great matchup next on the schedule against a weak Redskins pass defense.

LeGarrette Blount, RB, Buccaneers (98.9 percent)

If Week 7 was any indication, Blount could be taking over more of a featured role in the Buccaneers offense going forward. He rushed 11 times for 72 yards against the Rams, and his totals would have been even better had runs of 46 and 13 yards not been called back due to penalties. The rookie isn't going to become the next James Wilder overnight, but he is worth a look in leagues with 12-plus leagues is you lack depth at running back.

Reggie Bush, RB, Saints (39.6 percent)

Pierre Thomas told the *New Orleans Times-Picayune* that his ankle injury "still bothers" him, so there's no exact timetable for his return. Chris Ivory will continue to be involved in the team's backfield mix, but Bush is now closer to returning to action after missing several weeks with a leg injury. With Thomas out, he should be owned in all leagues with 12-plus teams. If Bush was released, be sure to go out and get him now.

Mike Hart, RB, Colts (98.6 percent)

Joseph Addai is expected to miss several weeks due to an injured shoulder, and it looks like Donald Brown (hamstring) will be a question mark for Monday night. That leaves Hart to see most of the backfield work for coach Jim Caldwell. If that scenario comes to fruition, Hart will be a nice sleeper against a Texans defense that's been mediocre against the run this season. He's a must-add in most leagues.

Davone Bess, WR, Dolphins (77.7 percent)

Bess had six catches for 66 yards with one touchdown in a loss to the Steelers in Week 7, and has now scored in three straight games. In fact, he has more touchdowns than his teammate, Brandon Marshall, after six games. Furthermore, Bess is on pace to finish the season with an impressive 85 receptions based on his current numbers. That makes him an even better option in PPR leagues as a potential No. 3 or 4 wideout.

Blair White, WR, Colts (99.7 percent)

The Colts have suffered a number of major injuries on offense, including the loss of Addai, Austin Collie and Dallas Clark. With Anthony Gonzalez also dealing with a high ankle sprain, White could wind up seeing a lot of time in the slot over the next few games. The presence of Peyton Manning is enough to give any Colts receiver fantasy appeal, so White and tight end Jacob Tamme should be considered in larger leagues.

Steve Johnson, WR, Bills (81.9 percent)

If you look at the numbers, Johnson has actually been a viable fantasy starter in recent weeks. The third-year wide receiver put up eight catches for 158 yards and scored a touchdown in loss to the Ravens, and has now found the end zone in four straight games. Johnson, who has more fantasy points than Larry Fitzgerald and Marques Colston, has been too good to be a free agent in over 80 percent of NFL.com leagues.

Mike Williams, WR, Seahawks (73.3 percent)

Williams has experienced a major up tick in targets and fantasy value since the Seahawks traded Deion Branch to the Patriots. In two games as the Seahawks' No. 1 wideout, he's posted a combined 21 catches for 219 yards with one touchdown. That includes a 87-yard, one-touchdown performance against the Cardinals in Week 7. Williams has been re-born under coach Pete Carroll and now should be owned in most fantasy leagues.

Owen Daniels, TE, Texans (49.1 percent)

The loss of Clark and Jermichael Finley has thinned out the tight end position overall, so Daniels could turn into a regular fantasy starter down the stretch. He's started to show signs of life after a slow start to the season, catching eight passes for 124 yards in the two games before Houston's bye week. If you've lost your No. 1 option at the position or need a bye-week option, Daniels is well worth adding off the waiver wire.
