Syracuse's Durell Eskridge announces he will enter 2015 draft

Syracuse free safety Durell Eskridge announced on Instagram on Tuesday that he will enter the 2015 NFL Draft.

Eskridge, who is listed at 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds by Syracuse, was third on the team with 68 tackles. He had one interception, which he returned for a touchdown against Notre Dame, and three pass breakups this season; he had a team-high four picks last season, when he also led the Orange in tackles.

Eskridge was a two-year starter whose size obviously is a selling point. He is a physical player who is solid in run support and has been an effective centerfielder at times. How he runs at the NFL Scouting Combine and on his pro day will be important. At the least, expect him to run in the 4.5s. A move to strong safety is possible.

Eskridge, who went through Syracuse's "Senior Day" activities, had asked the NFL Draft Advisory Board for feedback.

Eskridge was a high school star at Miami's powerhouse Central High, where he was teammates with, among others, Atlanta Falcons rookie running back Devonta Freeman, Marshall quarterback Rakeem Cato, Marshall wide receiver Tommy Shuler, Louisville cornerback Charles Gaines, Louisville guard John Miller and Florida Atlantic linebacker Andrae Kirk.
