Suspect in stabbing of 'Skins KR Banks no longer monitored

WASHINGTON -- A man accused of stabbing Redskins kick returner Brandon Banks in a fight outside a nightclub has been released from electronic monitoring.

Jason Shorter of Lanham, Md., appeared Wednesday at a hearing in Superior Court in Washington. A judge agreed to remove him from electronic monitoring and allow him to remain free until a May 18 preliminary hearing.

Shorter, 24, was charged in February with assault with a dangerous weapon after an altercation outside The Park, a nightclub on 14th Street in downtown D.C. Banks and a friend were stabbed during the brawl.

Banks' agent said at the time that the stab wound wouldn't have any effect on his client's career.
