Steelers outlast Titans in physical game

It was over when ...
Steelers kicker Jeff Reed nailed a 33-yard field goal with 10:28 remaining in overtime. The winning kick was set up by Ben Roethlisberger's 22-yard pass to rookie Mike Wallace. Veteran Hines Ward fumbled the ball away at the Titans' 4-yard line with less than a minute to play in regulation, costing Pittsburgh a chance to attempt a potential winning kick. So when the Steelers got into field-goal position in overtime, coach Mike Tomlin wasted little time in sending out Reed.

On NFL Replay
NFL Replay will re-air the Pittsburgh Steelers' 13-10 win over the Tennessee Titans on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 9:30 p.m. ET.

Game ball
After a sluggish start, Roethlisberger found his form as the game progressed. Despite facing intense pressure at times, Big Ben used his trademark scrambling ability to buy time and give his receivers a few extra moments to get open. He finished with 363 passing yards -- the third-highest total of his six-year NFL career -- and completed 16 of 18 throws in the fourth quarter and overtime.

Key stat
Rob Bironas made only one of his three field-goal attempts for the Titans, but Reed connected on both of his kicks. That proved to be the difference for the Steelers.
