Steelers fill out staff by hiring Montgomery to coach receivers

PITTSBURGH -- Scottie Montgomery filled the lone vacancy on the Steelers' coaching staff Tuesday, when he was hired as the wide receivers coach.

Montgomery held the same job at his alma mater, Duke, the last four seasons. He played for the Denver Broncos from 2000 to 2002 after being a two-time MVP at Duke.

Duke had three receivers with more than 50 receptions and 600 yards each last season.

Randy Fichtner coached the Steelers' wide receivers the last three seasons, but he took over as quarterbacks coach when Ken Anderson retired at the end of the season.
