» Since 2000, four tight ends have had 1,000 receiving yards or more in one season -- Tony Gonzalez (three times), Jason Witten, Antonio Gates and Kellen Winslow II.

» The last seven tight ends drafted from the University of Washington have gone on to play in the NFL. Two were drafted in the first round (Mark Bruener and Jerramy Stevens), and two were taken in the second round (Cam Cleeland and Ernie Conwell). Bruener and Stevens have played in the Super Bowl.

» The highest draft pick ever used on a tight end was fourth overall in 1957 (Ron Kramer by the Green Bay Packers). Mike Ditka (by the Chicago Bears in 1961) and Riley Odoms (by the Denver Broncos in 1972) were the next highest at fifth overall.

» In 2004, eight tight ends led their team in receiving -- the most ever in any one year since 1967.

» Two tight ends (Antonio Gates for Kent State and Tony Gonzalez for California) started on a college basketball team that reached the Sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament.

» Since 1967, three tight ends have led the NFL in total catches -- Tony Gonzalez with 102 in 2004, Todd Christensen with 95 in 1986 and 92 in 1983, and Kellen Winslow Sr. with 88 in 1982 and 89 in 1980.
