The Seattle Seahawks lost their grip on claiming the top secondary in the NFL -- swiped by the Denver Broncos in 2015. Despite the dip, Richard Sherman doesn't believe the Seahawks lost a step.
"We're hitting our prime, that's what I'd say," Sherman told KIRO-AM on Monday. "I think at the beginning with our infancy, when we started this thing, it was our second, third years in the league. Now we're (in our) sixth, seventh years in the league. We're much more veteran. We have a great understanding of what's being asked of us and how to approach the game."
The 28-year-old Sherman, 27-year-old Earl Thomas and 28 year-old Kam Chancellor make up the core of the Legion of Boom since the beginning. A 31-year-old Brandon Browner returns to play a hybrid role. 27-year-old DeShawn Shead and 25-year-olds Jeremy Lane and Tharold Simon are growing into their roles.
The Seahawks' stats might have been down in 2015, thanks in large part to a wobbly start to the season due to injuries and Chancellor's holdout. If Seattle can find a stable second fiddle opposite Sherman, the Legion of Boom will be back atop the NFL in 2016. And they'll have many more years of dominating ahead.
