Up to this point we've had to use the buzzword "voluntary" when discussing a team's veteran offseason workouts.
However, the voluntary part will be dropped for seven NFL teams who open their three-day mandatory minicamps Tuesday:
The big difference between the three-day workouts these seven teams will hold this week is that players skipping mandatory work are subject to fines -- totaling up to around $69,000 for missing all three days.
Twenty-four other teams hold their mandatory work next week -- with the Ramsas the outlier. At that time the status of players such as 49ers tight end Vernon Davis and Texans receiver Andre Johnson, both of whom have been discussed as possibilities to skip minicamp, will be scrutinized.
As for the seven teams kicking off mandatory minicamps Tuesday, it appears most known potential holdouts have shown up for work.
The Browns, Buccaneers, Cardinals and Lions will wrap up their pre-training camp workouts this week, while the rest of the league stretches into next week.
