Scott Mitchell to appear on 'The Biggest Loser'

Scott Mitchell was once an impressively toned professional athlete. Now he is not.

The former Detroit Lions quarterback has ballooned up to 366 pounds since his NFL career came to a close in 2002. That's a 126-pound weight gain since throwing his last pass.

To rectify this very real health problem -- and, we presume, put himself in contention for a generous cash prize -- Mitchell has agreed to be a contestant on The Biggest Loser. Former NFL offensive lineman Damian Woody will also appear on the show. The NBC reality competition series will kick off its 16th season on Sept. 11.

The before-and-after tells the story of Mitchell's post-football struggle.

Mitchell and Woody aren't the first Biggest Loser contestants to have an NFL connection. Holley Mangold, who's the younger sister of New York Jets center Nick Mangold, appeared on the show's 15th season in 2013.

We're just looking forward to the moment Mitchell stares into the camera and tells the audience, "I didn't come here to make friends." We can see the Wayne Fontes eye roll from here.
