San Diego Chargers sign punter Mat McBriar with Scifres out

The Bolts have tapped a veteran to replace their stud punter.

The San Diego Chargers on Tuesday announced the signing of Mat McBriar with Mike Scifres sidelined with a broken clavicle.

The 35-year-old has spent most of his career with the Cowboys with one-year stints with both the Eagles and Steelers. The Australian, originally undrafted out of Hawaii, has made the Pro Bowl on two occasions.

Scifres suffered the injury after Patriots running back Brandon Bolden blocked a punt attempt, subsequently crashing into the punter.
