Saints claim Travaris Cadet off waivers from 49ers

Travaris Cadet is back in The Big Easy.

The Saints on Thursday announced that the scatback was claimed off waivers after being released by the 49ers.

Cadet spent his first three seasons with the Saints before cups of coffee this year with New England and San Francisco. He'll back up Tim Hightower and C.J. Spiller for the final two games of a lost Saints season that also saw the team lose tailback Mark Ingram for the year.

Cadet has yet to materialize as a game-by-game asset, but offers quickness out of the backfield and skills as a pass-catcher. Coach Sean Payton has talked him up before as a potential playmaker in New Orleans, but it's fair to wonder if Cadet -- or Payton -- will be around come next season.
