CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The NFL has suspended Carolina Panthers guard Duke Robinson for four games without pay for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.
Robinson already is on injured reserve, but he'll be able to serve the suspension over the final four games this season.
The Panthers entered training camp thinking the 2009 fifth-round draft pick from Oklahoma would win their open right guard job. But Robinson showed up overweight and was placed on the physically unable to perform list.
Robinson eventually hit the field, but he couldn't overtake Mackenzy Bernadeau for the job. He then was placed on IR before the start of the season with a torn knee ligament.
Robinson played in only game in 2009.
