Rob Ryan: Cowboys-Browns tilt has personal meaning

Coaches around the league normally downplay any revenge motivation when facing former employers. Not Rob Ryan.

The Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator admitted there are lingering feelings from his departure from the Cleveland Browns in January 2011.

"Any time you pour everything into it and apparently management didn't see it as good enough, of course it's personal," Ryan told NFL.com and NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport heading into Sunday's matchup.

The Browns went 10-22 during Rob Ryan's two seasons as coordinator. When Eric Mangini was fired after the 2010 season, Ryan had one year left on his deal. He wasn't asked to interview to replace Mangini.

"It's not like they asked me to stay," Ryan said. "But they should have. But I would have said, 'No.'"

Ryan said he hasn't discussed his feelings with the players.

"Honestly, I am going to say none," Ryan said. "Honestly. Honestly. Honestly, I am going, to say, 'No.' Honestly, I haven't talked about.

"Honestly, I don't know how that got out there. Honestly, I don't know."

Honestly?

"I've addressed a few things," Ryan admitted with a smile.
