Rob Gronkowski upgraded to questionable by Patriots

NFL Media's Albert Breer reported earlier this week that Rob Gronkowski was unlikely to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. The Patriots are giving their fans some hope, however.

New England listed Gronkowski (back/forearm) as questionable on its injury report Friday after being limited in practice all week. That's an upgrade from the first two weeks, during which he was listed as doubtful. Wide receiver Danny Amendola is doubtful because of his groin injury.

It still would be a surprise if Gronkowski played this week, but it's apparent he's making progress after two weeks of practice.

The Patriots won't be as short-handed at tight end this week, no matter what happens with Gronk. Rookie Zach Sudfeld is probable after missing Week 2 against the New York Jets with a hamstring injury.
